I remember posting somewhere once in a thread about why girls aren’t exploited in animation anymore where some guy said, “all the disney girls are drawn to be generally attractive, but I don’t think there are any eye-candy men… or are there? Are there any Disney men that lots of girls like?” and I mentioned Roger. Tons of girls replied agreeing with me and the original guy was like “wait, Roger? from 101 Dalmatians? What’s attractive about him, he’s tall and lanky and has a big nose, he isn’t muscley at all! Wouldn’t you all prefer Gaston or something? Or do you girls think his big nose is indicative of something else?” and I was like “no, you idiot, he’s a silly, goofy guy who likes animals and can play a bunch of instruments, that’s why he’s attractive. What’s the matter with you? Gaston, seriously?”

This is why we need more girls in animation. And more guys like Roger apparently.

I’m sorry, but did that guy even WATCH Beauty and the Beast? Who would fucking pick Gaston?!

Gaston would probably pick Gaston

Oh my god. I was thinking of getting a betta fish for my apartment, but ohhh my god I did some research and they sound INSANELY difficult to take care of. Aren’t five gallon fish tanks really big?! Filtering systems?! Whaaaaat?!

PFFFF okay Rosy qurl calm yo tits. I’ve got a 5.5 gal tank at home with my little betta Cress and 6 neon tetra and this is the shit you need! Super easy, I promise.

- tank (of course)
- aquarium thermometer
- filter
- filter cartridges
- tank heater (that can be set/”programmed” to a comfortable temp for all the feesh!)
- bioflora (beneficial bacteria, sold in bottles)
- tap water dechlorination solution

1.) After you have the tank where you want it, set up the thermometer, heater and filter. After adding the gravel and decorations, SLOWLY add room-temp water until the tank is almost full. DON’T TURN ON THE FILTER YET. Treat the water with as much dechlorinator as the bottle recommends (usually measured per gallon).
2.) Check the temp of the water. Bettas are most comfortable between 76-82 F. I have mine set at 78 F. If the water is below 76, turn on the heater and let the temperature adjust. Some heaters automatically shut off after reaching the target temp - get one of these for sure!
3.) Add the fish BUT LET HIM/HER ACCLIMATE (get used to the water temp). If the fish is still in the plastic pet store bag, let it float in the tank for about 15 minutes.
4.) After adding the fish, add the bioflora/bacteria. Don’t worry, it makes the water look murky but it doesn’t harm the fish at all. Infact, what this stuff does is destroy nitrites/nitrates that can cause gill burn and fin rot.
5.) Turn on the filter. The “cloudiness” of the water should take a while to clear up, but it will eventually.
6.) Keep an eye on your feesh. Make sure it isn’t showing any signs of stress (lying on the gravel, “gasping”, etc). I like to check the fish’s stress by giving him a treat after a new tank transfer/water change. The betta may not eat at first, but that’s fairly normal. If it still won’t eat after a day or so, then you can start worrying. If he gobbles up the food right away, he’s OK!

Any other questions, just ask~

Bless this post

But I have a very, very small space available… could you give me the rough estimate of how much space a five gallon tank would be? The size of a coffee table? TV? Lamp?

Plus temperature control because if I remember correctly, betta fish do better in warm water (apparently around 75F) and food. And think of a five gallon tank as five milk jugs put together, so they’re probably something like 2.5 feet long by a foot wide by a foot tall ish. I’m just kinda guessing, it’s probably longer.

Basically the complicated part is set-up, because of treating the water and setting up the filter and the tank’s environment, but it’s purty easy after that.

…. welp, I’m terrified to ever own a fish. I guess I’ll just have to live with my indestructible desk plant.

/quiet sobbing I’M SO LONELY
